Kita Transition & Settling In

Kita Transition & Settling In

One of the biggest moments in a parent’s and a child’s life is the transition into a daycare.

Starting life before mainstream school is all about a calm and enjoyable experience for families. It can be an emotional time for child and adult alike. With our special transition structure, we try to make it a little easier.

The settling-in period is discussed individually with the parents, but lasts usually 1 week and is adapted according to the needs of the child. We invite families to attend their child’s settling-in session. This helps both parents and children to become familiar with their environment, to meet the team and to interact with the children.

We are a Learning Tribe community brought together for a purpose of safeguarding our children, building positive relationships where they can play and learn. For most children they do need the ‘comfort blanket’ of a parent and therefore we continue a series of short transition sessions, for the first few days.

Each session, parents can leave their child for slightly longer as they build their confidence, until they are ready to start.

We are here as a community to build a safe place where a child’s learning journey is positive from the start.

A child’s teacher will be keen to get to know a child joining their class, parents can support class teachers by sharing home routines, how they seek comfort (perhaps with a cuddly toy), a favourite book, likes/dislikes, people or things that are special to them. Learning Tribe will always try to use such feedback to suit your child’s interest.
